Roof Runoff Systems: Do they really work?

These photos are taken from two streets in a subdivision using a roof runoff gathering system to make up for lost water volumes.

Here are examples of residents who altered their own drains to bypass the intake of the roof runoff system..

Some homes were removed from the system because basements were having water issues.

Ice blocks the system during cold periods of the year.

Some roof water gathering systems simply don't work due to poor design.

 

Lower intake pipes contain debris. Is there a standard height requirement?

The PCV pipes get brittle in the sun over time. They can break.
